The end of this week in England is said to bring more snow to the country, specifically to London and surrounding areas. It has certainly been a cold winter which many are looking to escape from this February break. The locations that are offering fantastic sun are of course the places that have sun any time of the year. Destinations include Egypt, Caribbean and holidays to Tenerife to name a few.
February is definitely a great time to head on a Tenerife holiday with weeks of carnival celebrations happening in every town on the island. The most impressive of which can be found in Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz. You will never be bored as each town council organises a whole host of activities.
In Santa Cruz you can join in on the street celebrations, browse the different kiosks and stalls and have fun listening to the traditional music and enjoying local cuisine. Once the Carnival Queen has been selected you will be able to then see the parade full with complete colours on your Tenerife holiday.
The week after the carnival will be filled with different bands and dance schools giving various performances, fancy dress competitions and for car fans there will also be a parade of antique cars. If you are there for the end of the Tenerife carnival you will see the "coso", the final parade that begins in the afternoon and ends early evening on carnival Tuesday.
Finally the burial of the sardine is a ritual that is carried out in many locations with the best being in Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava and Los Realejos. It should not been missed on Tenerife holidays. The sardine is made for old rags and other cloth. It will sit on the throne and carried through the streets on a float. Mourners will follow, widows crying their eyes out and pregnant men in the group, it is quite an experience!
